Anyone have pictures of shi tzu haircuts? Im wanting to give my dog a different haircut instead of completely shaven bald. Quincey looks like a rat shaven, ive already tried it. thanks

There are several options.
The first is the blanket common teddy bear head, short body (usually a #5) with a long tail. It's easy.. fast... by far the most common hair cut I give in a week.
Believe it or not my favorite shih tzu hair cut by far is a lion cut like you'd give a lowchen with the mane starting at the last rib. Its super cute IMO, many people can't stand the shaved butt look though.
I have a pair of shih tzus I work on that are shaved, no teddy bear head but are given two fairly large mohawks from top of the head to tail. they kinda look like gremlins.
One that is gaining popularity through groomer has it is the short body Teddy bear head, lion tail, short body, and leave the legs long like a pair of bell bottoms.
Right now, Quincey has the teddy bear head, long tail, long hair on legs starting from bottom of chest with feet shaved. The rest of the mid section is shaved. The but is shaved. I wanted to leave the chest hair from neck down long but the groomer said it would look goofy. Have you done any with that and also a skirt from chest down. Some say it makes the dog look like a ballerina. Id like to try it next year and see how it would look on him.
I like the "puppy cut" I see where the head is fluffy but not "long" or shaggy - the body and legs are all one length but not shaved "down short" - still some fluff to it but not length, and the tail and ears are left long - I think this is cutest, if I had a poodle or shihtzu that's what I would do.
I know the puppy cut is what most people have done on their shi tzu. I just wanted to do something different. A cut that doesnt need cutting every month. Has anyone seen the haircut with something called the skirt, that makes the dog look like it is a ballerina, some say. It is sort of the same look of a cockerspaniel. I may try that next year.

I do have one shih tzu mix that I do a kind of schnauzer clip on...Basically a #5 or #7 on the back blending into a pattern line that follows the usual mini schnauzer lines. It does look very different on a shih tzu though.
I also have another that gets the dandy dinmont... but I can't say it appeals to me. His owner loves it though.
