a few months ago luanne got a lump where she received her 3 yr rabies vaccine (this was in march), the vet said it was normal to be there for a little while afterward (maybe even up to 4 months). it is still there though (doesn't hurt, is very small, doesn't get any bigger), and she is now suggesting a biopsy.
did anyone ever have a pet that had a lump like this from a vaccine that never seemed to go away?
I think this is one of the reasons people don't vaccinate. My dog had a very large lump form the DPTT whatever that one is. As I was picking her up from the foster they gave it to her. She was a snarling fircracker and was tensed up so that's probally why it was such a large lump. The Vet said it would be absorbed into her system. It went away eventually but I still think the spot where it was given feels odd. Did the same vet who gave the injection suggest the biopsy? Just curious. I hope it works out for her. Here's a link to articles and Q and A which I found very informative. http://leerburg.com/vaccinosis.htm and http://leerburg.com/qavaccinations.htm
Jenn: I had a Shih Tzu that got a bird egg size lump from her
yearly innoculations. I complained to my vet and from then on
they were given intramuscularly until she was 10 years old.
All shots were stopped after that, she lived to 16 1/2.
Good luck
Betty
