Has anyone heard of this breed? My mom is looking at a litter born yesterday in Missouri. She wants me to make a road trip ( 8 hours) to get a pup on Dec 12 or 13th. Her Cani Corso is not doing well and is going to be put down shortly. Does anyone have one (Beauceron) or have you heard of them?

There's a breeder close to me that I've heard great things about. The trainer at the local FR club has a FR 3 Beauceron from her. He's a great dog (though I've only met him once). Not as easy to train as a Mal or GSD but the trainer has always had the less common sport dogs. The dog loves to work though and is a sweet heart. Looks like he enjoys goofing around as much as working. Not sure if she's looking at working lines, but I was certainly impressed by him.
I'm sorry to hear about her current dog
But yay for puppies
Hi
I have a 6 month old Beauceron, he is awesome I was looking for breeder in the state and at the times no litter was available.
I think I know who the breeder might be in Missouri if it is the one I think she was wonderful on information but did not have a puppy at the time. I got mine from Canada I did a lot of research before I got it and I will never regret it, it is a a great dog, I had dobe before and german shepherds for me this was the right choice ,
Good luck
Beaucerons are a tough working breed and used for police work and herding work in France. They come in black and tan and blue merle and tan. This is NOT a dog for the faint of heart. Is your mom planning to do any sports or work with the dog?
My mom wants me to go with her. The lady has to go through her waiting list so it's not for sure yet if my mom will even get one. We would drive together. The woman does some kind of training and did or still does train police dogs. Are their ears cropped? I'm not a big fan of ear cropping as I used to work at a vet in the 80's and the ear crops always to woke up yelping. My mom said she wanted to try confirmation. I'm trying to convince to do Schutzhund or Rally or something fun. They do look gorgeous(sp) I love their snouts. Reminds me of a big dobe snout.

Sounds like you've at least found a good breeder for the future if she can't get one now. Their ears are cropped, but I'm sure you can ask them not to (at least I think...). I saw my first one at a pet expo we had here and fell in love with them. And even more so now after meeting the FR3 dog. They definitely seem like A LOT of work though. Conformation would be fun, but I would still definitely try to get her into a more active sport. Unless she's able to offer a good amount of physical/mental stimulation. They seem more stubborn than some other working dogs, so probably require a little extra effort. But from what I know (which isn't much), I'd say Cane Corsos would be fairly similar. I wish I knew more about the breed for you!

I'm not saying ear cropping isn't a painful surgery but I did want to note that some of this may have been due to that particular vet's pain management procedures. Medicine has changed a lot in twenty years.
Not trying to dis my home state but do your home work.
Missouri is one of, if not the worst state in the union for puppy mills.
A rare breed like this may not fit the description of what they consider viable breeds to sell...BUT!
Ask for references of people they have sold dogs to.
Most of all, don't let a breeder tell you he'll "meet you part way with the pup". You want to see the kennels and both parents if possible.
Hi
I thought i would give a few comments on the Beauceron, i do not know much just tjat before I got Dack, I read a lot and talked to many breeders plus of course the web. When I talked to many breeders I made sure that the puppies were family raised and checked references they all know each other kind of, they are so few beauceron breeders, when you visit you get a good feel, mine was born in the family house and the breeder had all the puppies in her office and the parents were around plus all the other that she has, she was very good at making sure the puppy were old enough to go and if we handled them she watched carefully and made sure we wash our hands etc, I was very impressed by the way if you see the video Hotel for Dogs, Henry is a Beauceron, I do not know if I helped, they are so many of you out there that have great experience and knowledge but I fell in love with my Beauceron even with a broken toe he is great they are a stong breed though and not the easiest but the effort yo put pays
