Ok so Those of you who remember me.
Phoenix is a almost three year old Mutt that we have had from 7 weeks.
Spayed and has not had any shots from her puppy shots beside rabies.
Anyway
About three weeks ago she went to our pet sitter for 3 days we had to go out of town on short notice so vet boarding was out of the question.
Phoenix is very hand shy its my old fault she was raised until 8 months old on the old if you dont do what I say method. I learned from leerburg about training sense then she has been trained the right way.
Well coming back from the pet sitter she has been on her bed a lot and not wanting to get on the couch with me and hubby. Or wanted to have anything to do with other dogs she has four dogs in our apartment that they all play together.
Pretty much the complete opposite of her normal self. I asked the pet sitter and nothing happened according to her.
But I am not so sure I have already found a in home pet sitter. So I wont be using her but not sure how to handle it. We have been doing confidence building exercises with her what else can we do
You made the right move to find alternate arrangements when you are not comfortable. I think it is wise to go with your gut instinct. I don't think there is much else you can do as far as the sitter.
I agree with Lynne get her stools back to normal and see if the rest doesn't resolve itself.
I don't get your time frames. You said you had for only 7 weeks, yet you say you raised her harshly from a puppy to eight months and she is three?
Read it one more time.
Sorry off topic but boy mike your little man is growing up. I remember the baby picture. Good to see the gang still here and thanks guys. Bably enogh I am out of town again until Wednesday. As soon as I get home I will see how her stools are doing. The oet sitter said she seemed fine as the way of bathroom goes but only I know how phoenixes poohs should look.
Often runny stools are a sign of stress. It is possible that Phoenix is stressed from her pack leaving her and having to go to a strange house. It is also possible that she was treated harshly while she was at this other person's house. It sounds like she is a sensitive dog. Does she have any separation anxiety?
Three weeks is a long time for her to be depressed, though. I think confidence building is the right step. Has her stool been runny for the entire three weeks she has been back with you? Could she have caught any sort of illness from any other pets at this house, or have been fed the wrong food?
