Just wondered if my 4 month old GSD is getting enough to eat - or too much. He scarfs down his food in under 2 minutes and looks at me like he is still starved. He is active and gets a lot of run/walk time. Right now he weighs 40 lbs., my vet is impressed with his health and weight and believes he will be a good size dog.
He eats three times a day, at each feeding he gets:
1 and 1/4 cup Orijen large breed puppy kibble
2 oz. K-9 Kraving raw meat and vegetable patty
Any help the experts out there can give would be helpful. Thanks so much!

Certain dogs are masters of the I'm starving look despite all evidence to the contrary. You might want to put a rock in his dish to slow down his food eating to reduce the risk of bloat.
Go by feel rather than cups. If you can still feel his ribs under a light layer of flesh, he's in good tone. If you can't feel the ribs, or only after really having to feel through the flesh you're probably feeding too much.
Adjust accordingly. According to Orijen's LB puppy page you're on target with this amount but each dog is different, with a differing metabolism and activity level.
My pup is about a month and a half older than yours and he weighs 46 pounds (And he's too thin). While I am not the person to give you food advice, maybe that would at least give you something to compare to at least.
And mine is a scarfer too- you aren't alone : )
Putting him on The Honest Kitchen really helped slow him down. Because of the consistency, he can't inhale it like to used to!
Can you post a pic? That would probably help! I got lots of suggestions once everyone was able to see what I was talking about.
Hmmmm,
How does he look?
What latitude do you live in? Winter needs extra calories if where you live winter is a challenge on the metabolism. Mine always put on a layer of fat during the cold months, but that being said I watch their weight even more closely now (in winter) as it's easy to lose track because of the clime and thinking they just need the calories.
