I saw the post, last week, asking about pork. I had not given Kasey any pork before, so I decided to try it. A couple of you said that you feed pork necks, so I got some yesterday. The bones are hard as a rock! I gave him one of the pieces that was in the package and he couldn't even bite through it! Do your dogs eat the bone part of those?
We get pork neck bones and yes, Falcon consumes the entire bones and meat. They are hard, but he loves them and does not have any trouble with them (so far!). I've commented on feeding these before and have not been cautioned off of them, but if these are not good for the dogs, I'm sure one of the "wise raw feeder gurus" will chime in shortly.
I give pork neck bones to mine and she never has trouble with them. She can't eat the whole thing but she can shear off a lot of it. After she gives it a good going over, I just take it away before it gets brittle and hard. My dog is only ten pounds. Pork is one of her favorite meats.

Edit reason: spelling
My Mal got a piece of a pork neck bone lodged between his teeth. He was frothing at the mouth and whining. It took two of us and a flashlight to get it out of his mouth.
I don't feed those anymore. It scared the crap out of me. Although I figured he wasn't choking since he was able to whine.
I wish mine would eat the pork neck bones but the really hard ones they just walk away from.
Instead, I have found pork rib tips and they seem to like these a lot.
The plus is there is more meat on these bones, but are not as cheap as the pork neck bones.
I think it is really up to each individual dog as to what they seem to like or will eat.
I get scared when I hear those loud cracking sounds and I am so afraid of tooth fractures that I don't like to give them anymore.
I prefer to stick to the bones I know that they easily can consume.

What do you call this at the store? Rib tips?
Yeah, I'd like to know that too! All the pork rib varieties I've seen cost more than what I can pay for my own meat! I gave Kasey one more of those neck bones and he licked it a little and walked away! The bones are so hard, I too, am afraid they will break his teeth and I'll end up with a huge dental bill.
Hi all,
I buy "pork bones," which is the breast bones that they remove from spare ribs . I usually end up with 6 pieces about 1/2 lb each in a package . Each package costs about $3.00- $4.00 cdn.
I get these if I cant find chicken on sale. Kane eats them all up no problem.
I stopped buying beef neck bones for the same reason as you
Lisa . Good luck Lori

Connie, I get something here called Danish ribs. They are actually smaller than baby backs so I'm not sure if these are 'rib tips'. Mimi can eat the whole thing easily with these. They are about ninety nine cents per pound on sale.
Connie, In your opinion are pork neck bones something to be avoided? I understand there are risks with everything from kibble to drinking too much water, but what is your opinion on this particular product?
