Nico has a horribly upset stomach right now, I don't know what caused it, but she has had watery poop all day.
The accident late last night was alarming, I have never seen so much watery poop in my life. It was almost the consistency of milk.
Poor girl was so upset about it too
It is somewhat less watery but still totally liquid this evening.
I have fasted her all day except for water because I was worried about dehydration. Right now she is eating 1 cup of gruely rice with about a tablespoon of plain yogurt mixed in.
I went to four different grocery stores today and none of them had canned pumpkin...Is there some kind of shortage?
She is acting ok, so I am going to wait and see if it resolves in the next day or two before taking her in.

That's so weird because I've been trying to get canned pumpkin for Kasey for the last month and can't find it either - the place where they usually have it on the shelves doesn't even have the labels anymore.
Pumpkin is used because of the fiber, so you can also use cooked sweet potato, or a fiber supplement like Metamucil. I know the sweet potato amount is the same as pumpkin according to my vet, but I'm not sure about the metamucil (which is harder anyway because you have to get them to drink the water mixed with it!).
I've used Pepto Bismol on occasion. The dose in the "Home Veterinary Book for Dog Owners" is 0.5-1.5 mL per pound every 12 hours. I generally dose closer to the lower end of the suggestion.
Thanks Michael,
There is no canned squash at the store but there are still some winter squashes in the produce section, so once again I wonder if I could just cook it and mash it.
Mara, I thought about pepto, but if her system is trying to purge something I don't want to take the risk of stopping her up.
True, but the pumpkin is doing something a bit similar (putting a bit of a plug in the system). Sometimes I'll give a couple of activated charcoal capsules if a dogs tummy is really rumbly/upset. It helps to absorb the toxins in their system. I use it myself for an upset stomach and it works wonderful - I choose charcoal over pepto for myself most of the time
It seems like there is some sort of unwritten rule that if they are going to get sick or hurt it is going to be in the middle of the night on a weekend.
