EXPLOSIVE CHARACTERISTICS COURSE FOR THE K-9 HANDLER AND THEIR SUPERVISORS
APRIL 5-6 2010 ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO
We have developed a course designed exclusively for the Explosive Detection K-9 Handler and their Supervisors. This TWO day, 16 hour, course will provide the K-9 handler with all the knowledge necessary to readily identify explosive materials. We have found that when K-9 handler supervisors (Administrators, Chief's of Police, Sheriff's) take this course they are more in touch with what the K-9 handler's needs are as well as an awareness level knowledge of explosive characteristics.
At the conclusion of the training course a training kit with all the odor's discussed in the class will be provided to the student if they choose Package #1 (see below). The explosive training kit will be a valuable training aid for those units starting a new team, maintaining a team or trying to acquire certification.
Deadline to register is 14 days prior to the course.
Cost of this course which includes the training kit is:

Tripwire Operations Group and the Department of Applied Forensic Sciences, Mercyhurst College, Erie, PA are pleased to announce a new training opportunity in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
One-day Short Course Post Blast Scene Recovery Protocols: The Short Course will run from 8 am until 5 pm on Thursday and cover all aspects of the field recovery of evidence and human remains associated with a mass fatality scene (from Improvised Explosive Device incidents to a large-scale plane crash). The course will be taught primarily by Dr. Dennis Dirkmaat, Director of the Applied Forensic Sciences program at Mercyhurst College, Erie, Pennsylvania Click here for Mercyhurst's Archaeological Institute. Dr. Dirkmaat has conducted forensic anthropology cases throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia and New York since the mid 1980's. In addition, any interested individuals (professionals and volunteers in fire, law enforcement, jurisprudence fields) are invited to participate in the recovery exercise. Following a short training and organization talk on the recovery of the mass disaster site by Dr. Dirkmaat, an Improvised Explosive Device will be detonated in a vehicle.
