Before I get to more dumb questions, let me get this off my chest....this stuff the THE grossest thing EV-ER! Ew. Ew. Gag. There, I feel better.
Cali, however, gobbled it in a swoon of ecstasy.
If this considered an organ meat or MM?
DO you use this weekly in your dog's diet, or is it something less frequent?
TIA!

I was told and consider it muscle meat. My guy gets it once a week and he goes nuts for it. I throw in some chicken feet or heads with it. One lesson I learned is to not let it warm up, the smell is waaaaaaay worse and lingers a long time. Now if I have to thaw it in the sink, I put it back in the fridge long enough to make sure its cold before feeding it, the smell of it cold wont carry thru the house but if you let it warm up....the entire house stinks to high heaven!

Linda, Some folks use it as a meal by itself and some people add it in with other things. I think what ever your nose and stomach will tolerate will work!!

you must be using some fresh one because the one from greentripe.com is very mild in odor (although once upon a time i didnt like it so much)

To me, the smell changes after a good, hard freeze.
Much milder after the freeze. Don't know if that is a real observation or my imagination. Sometimes I lie.

Perhaps my nose is uber sensitive, but, to me, that stuff st-inks! I just fed Cali tripe tonight as part of her dinner, and I was just grossed out the entire time the smell was hanging in the air! To me it smells like the mustiest, rottenest, old mildewed dirt floor cellar.
I will tell y'all that, tonight, for the first time since ~10 weeks old, Cali jumped on her food before I gave her the OK. She ALWAYS, without error, sits and waits like she should until I tell her to eat. It seems, however, she went into a tripe swoon, and grabbed it out of the bowl like she was possessed. After she ate it, she then sat all pretty waiting for the OK so she could eat the chicken backs that were left. It was pretty funny, I have to say. Beats me, but she loves that stuff.

I remember the first time I fed Turbo tripe I felt guilty because it was so disgusting that surely no living being would want to eat that. He quickly showed me that the worry was unfounded.
