Cali is a very chewy dog, always has been. She's not destructive to furniture or other things in the house, but when she's looking to "get her chew on" she will start searching for Kleenex or other things to shred.
She likes the marrow or rib bones. Is there any reason NOT to give her a daily chew bone (besides the cost ) ? I scoop out most of the marrow since it's so rich and would add a lot of calories.
Little missy, however, rarely returns to gnaw on a used bone. When she's done, she'd done. Even loading it with PB will get her to lick it, but not spend any time with it. It really does mean a new bone a day. Thanks!
I stuff meat inside old ones and freeze them. Just like a Kong. And I search for the super skinny kind, because then it takes him longer to lick out.
Also, when I give them raw marrow bones, I just feed them a smaller meal that day.
I also have a giant bag of frozen deer legs as chew bones. Mine aren't super aggressive chewers so I can trust them to play with them for a few hours then I just pitch them. The best bones I ever got were fully intact deer legs- fur on and everything. It took them days to figure out how to rip out the fur to get to the meat. Wouldn't recommend them to everyone because they can shatter in a rather sharp manner. My dogs just don't have the motivation to try to crunch them up.
Pig's feet are good too. That takes them a good long while to get through as well. And like I said, I just feed less on days they get those.
