Hi everyone. Last night my husband was playing this game with Kasey that they play most every night. It involves a ball and lots of movement on Kasey's part. They play in the house on carpet. Kasey seemed fine the whole time, but about an hour later, after he'd been sleeping for a while, he got up and was limping - it's his left front leg.
He is still limping today - a medium limp, you can definitely see it, but he will put some weight on it. I moved his leg around and felt all down the bone and can't feel anything different from the other leg, but he doesn't like it.
We don't want to rush off to the vet since it seems like it must just be a sprained muscle. Do you all think it's ok to wait a couple days and see if it gets better on it's own? We've never had an 'injury' type of situation before, so not sure! Should I give him an aspirin?

I would probably feel OK with "wait and see" (with restricted activity), because he is allowing some weight on it. Obviously, though, the safest thing is to have x-rays.

Ok, would you give him aspirin or anything? and would you 'make' him stay down most of the time. Obviously we aren't going to walk or play, but the rest of the time should I let him do what he wants?

Barring any obvious, visible injury or pain, my first course of action for minor lameness is always a few days to a week of restricted activity and lots of rest (the less activity, the more opportunity the body has to heal itself).
Watch the dog for behavior changes, palp the leg every day for heat, soreness, etc, and just give it some time. Soft tissue injuries are quite common - minor ones can heal in a matter of days, major ones can take months... I'd see a vet if nothing improves in a week, or if the condition worsens at all.

I'd restrict movement except for passive range-of-motion exercises if possible for a couple of days, watching the limb for swelling or increased heat. I'd take this time to teach some easy new tricks or simple new commands to keep him from going bat-sh*t.
Has he ever had aspirin or any other NSAID before?
When Tasha had a similar minor injury I called the local 24 hour emergency vet. They recommended giving her a baby aspirin, the buffered 81 milligram type people use for preventing heart disease.
It really did seem to help, and I have done it a few other times for minor strains and once when she had a bout of pano.
