So, Belle just swallowed an entire bully stick. I have been giving her about one/week and let her chew until it gets small, then take it away. Today, she swallowed the thing whole immediately.
Gina, they are digestible. Just to be sure, be observant for any signs of a blockage, like vomiting, or lack of stools, or a small amount of diarrhea in place of a normal stool.
Maggie usually swallows the last 2 inches or so whole. (probably softened from the chewing). I have also heard they are digestible. HOWEVER, I have seen these little remainders in the poop! And I have also noticed that she has found these little remainders, too--she pulls them out of the poop: GROSS (not when fresh, but usually the next day or so). I have been trying to beat her to the poop. OY (I wish there was an OY smiley)
I give her the 12 inch long ones, and am thinking of grabbing that last piece, but I am usually too slow...
For what it is worth,
Both my GSD's have swallowed the last two inches or so at the end and I have not had any issues with digestion.
I would keep an eye like Lynne said, but you should be OK.
Bully sticks are much better than say raw hides, so that is a plus too.
