Hi all, wondering if I could train my pup in schutzhund, and have him be a service dog for a PTSD soldier? who is also disable, with some ambulatory movement for short distances, and that uses a scooter for longer distances. Thanks. Dan

Willie very good observations, will never want to put anyone in harms way, On the other hand if the pup, turns out to be good temperament and handles schutzhund it will be a good companion dog, for a person that has tools for his ptsd. and not necessary to be in a service dog position. Most people I know with ptsd do not want to be in a crowd as in shopping. But would love to have a competent reliable dog. (One or two in a million) As I have seen a good reliable dog loose it reporting to the judge on the handler. I wont try to play with fire. Thanks Willie, and very nice Family and Dogs. And everyone keep teaching by your response to posted questions Dan

I don't know exactly what different things Dante does with or for Jason, I just thought the two of them showed a good example of how much can be accomplished with these dogs. Something else to keep in mind beside the dog, is Jason himself.
If you ever meet him, you won't really think about the wheelchair. It's just meeting a good trainer that does great things with his dog.
Steve, While I tried to work with my old pup I had, he was getting stronger and as my physical disability progressed, I was glad to have a good club that help me out so much, I can just imagine from me own experience, how much Jason has had to put in to His dog to performed the way it showed in the video. I am looking forward to the experience my next pup will bring. For me it will be complete life changing.

Are you training more for help with the disability or as an "Emotional Support Dog" for his PTSD?
Do you want the dog to earn the title of service dog, the dog must be individually trained as a service dog, and the dog must be specifically trained to do tasks. So, are you planning on meeting the legal requirements of a service dog?
