Hello,
My 3.5 month GSD pup broke her top right canine tonight. It looks like a bloody stump, and is broken quite near the base. I am taking her to the vet in the morning, but am wondering if anyone has any experience or advise in the mean time.
Thank you
Jessica Clements

She is started in French Ring. She is an amazing little banshee from Schraderhaus. She is showing no pain reaction

That is still a baby tooth, isn't it?
If so, I don't think it should be a big deal.

My bitch is a Schraderhaus dog as well.
If its an adult tooth that broke, don't get a fake tooth. They tend to snap off during bitework.

It is a baby tooth. Do you think it will fall out naturally even though it is broken near the base? I worry it will rot.
Alyssa, your girl is beautiful. I finally took the leap!

Ok, good to know. She is from the "Z" Litter (molly and lord).

You sure I can't persuade you into Schutzhund? Tino's progeny are typically outstanding trackers.

Jessica,
Aaron is right, they will want to pull the baby tooth because infection will set in. I had this happen with my very first GSD, and while they may not show pain, I can assure you it is painful, especially if the dentin is exposed.
My girl's ears were up and after the tooth cracked, the one ear on that side went down and stayed down as an adult, but would be erect when playing.
Anyhow, lucky that it is a baby tooth, the adult is right behind it.
Good luck with your pup, she sounds like a beauty.
