at what age does a puppy "get it?"
My corgi is now 4 months old. He has been in the crate, only coming out to play or go outside.
I think he is getting it, but then he'll poop on the floor!
I am being really patient, but I'm worrying because I hear from a lot of people that their pup got it in a week or so.
WHEN does he poop on the floor? On the way outside? Immediatly after you come back in? Do you play with him inside your house?
Every pup is different. When he becomes potty trained depends on your consistency of the scedule of taking him outside & feeding him and also his age/breed. A little 4 mo. old corgi can't hold it as long as a gsd with a huge bladder of the same age.

I just got my gsd puppy 3 nights ago. My experience with crate training so far has been good but tough. If you can pick him up, it would help tremendously to bring him straight outside and encourage him to go. If he is too heavy, Mr. Frawley suggested startling it (clap loudly or speak loudly) and freezing him in action. You then can take him outside and encourage him to go. Good luck.
