Yes, the video doesn't tell the whole story. Seems like some lady said the dog attacked them, although there were no injuries reported in any of the stories. I haven't found anything in any of the stories stating that this dog had any prior issues. It really didn't look like the dog was behaving aggressively until they put the catch pole around its neck.
I know that LEO have to protect themselves, but this dog seemed to be tied up. Then it was on a catch pole...only to be executed?
Is there any dog that behaves calmly on a catch pole? There has to be many other ways to better handle this situation. The dog wagging its tail prior to the coup de grace is really sad.
I know, keep your dogs properly secured and this doesn't happen. I just think that this is way over the line in terms of acceptable LEO conduct.

Well... there has got to be more to this story. Yeah, it's sad that it happened but I can't imagine there wouldn't be a reason behind it. La Grange, MO from what I can tell is a tiny town of 1,000 without animal control or a shelter so I would imagine animal control is dealt with by their police dept.
I hate the idea of shooting a dog as much as anyone but I were dispatched to remove an animal and there is no one else whose going to do it for me. If it's between me getting bit and a dog that's going to be pts anyways I would probably shoot the dog too. Life is rarely as ideal as we wish it would be. In a perfect world the owner would have done the right thing, there would be a caring shelter spot for every neglected pet, and these guys would have had more than one catch pole between them.
Absolutely breaks my heart... the dog wagging her tail after being shot the first time, so then shot again in the head. (I didn't want to watch the video but read this is the article.)
Barbara, if it makes you feel better, the tail wagging could have been a nerve reaction..That still doesn't make me feel better, The dog did not appear that aggressive and someone was able to chain him up!
Heart breaking to watch. Whatever the reason the dog was not aggressive at all. So sad. I think the policeman was not getting any help and he decided to finish it off the best way possible (for him).
