Lulu likes to lay down in the shade when I want her to pee/poop during this heat wave we're having in NC. I've started immediately walking her to the back door, wiping my feet then turning around to walk right back to her spot. If she doesn't cooperate we repeat the trip to the back door until she does. So far it's only taken at the most two trips to the back door. I hate this heat!

You, me, and every bulldog in NC! It's usually hot this time of year, but the sun has been BRUTAL lately. I can't use the spring pole, fetch, or even bike in the heat of the day for more than 15-20 minutes. And with the warm weather, the drive seems to raise. I can't check the mail without alert waggy-tails bursting to go out and play. Ugh. Glad you have found a routine that is working!
We too are suffering with the hottest spring on record in over 60 some odd years - June has been more like August! I HATE the heat as well, so does Falcon. He does love playing in the hose so at least I can get him moving and keep him cool at the same time, but that is not an ideal solution because he is too fixated on the hose now! In any case, I'm counting the days until Fall and keep looking at our photos of the lovely snow we had last winter to remind me things will get better.... eventually.
We have been around 100 degrees for a couple days and it appears it will stay around 95-100 degrees for several months were we live in Texas!!!!
I really feel for the dogs more than anything, with all their fur.
On second thought, I am the one that cuts the grass....
Both me and the dogs can't wait for fall and winter to come, and it can't come fast enough. But it won't be until October when we can see any change in the mercury.
