I left my blue heeler/BC "Tex" out when we got home from work b/c it was pouring rain from this hurricane. He tore up a bag of fire ant killer I left outside. It didn't look like he ate any but it was definitely on his skin. I gave him a bath and called poison control who said everything should be ok as long as he didn't start throwing up a lot. I have been watching closely and he has thrown up once. I feed him a raw diet and was thinking I should fast him for a day. Any thoughts about what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Brett
What is the poison ingredient? Need that to find info about treatment.
Thanks Connie I did rinse for a long time pretty easy since he loves the water hose and rain but still doesn't like the pool. Do you think I should fast him tonight?
He seems to be doing fine. I didn't feed him last night just gave him water. Keep yall updated if anything happens.
That's good news, Brett. We have those damn ants here too, (and the poison). Glad it's going to work out OK for you.
It's a reminder to me to get good secure storage for all that type of stuff. The other day, the Akita rescue staying with us picked up a carton of muriatic acid, shredded the box, and carried a full, unopened GALLON of acid into the middle of the yard. Oops. Our little dogs wouldn't/couldn't/haven't ever messed with it - but the new guy? Pretty curious.
Pretty scary.
A dog has alot of friends because he wags his tail instead of his mouth.
