Don't go off the deep end David.
There are many and varied reasons for not sending a dog off to be trained by someone else.
My big reason is that; I want my dog to know and partner with me, not some stranger.
All the multitude of reasons aside though the thing is, if we keep dogs, we are trainers whether we want to be or not......So why not train him to be what you want him to be?
If my dog isn't learning, I'm doing something wrong.

I don't think it was the opinions on board and train facilities that cracked Dave.
The, "If you don't have the time to train your dog, you don't have the time to own a dog. Please rehome.", comment could be easily misinterpreted. I'm still not exactly sure what it really means.
I do very little, if any "training". This contest is the first time I've tried to "train" something in a long time. I don't have time.
I don't *think* Aaron is suggesting I rehome Turbo, but I can certainly see where a new member may hear it that way.
Ross, you don't know what trainers will do because you are not there. It doesn't matter how well you have researched on trainers. Trainers use "avoid" and forceful methods to train a dog with faster results.
Truthfully, it does more damage to the dog. They do not have the time to build up on trust and bond before they train the clients' dogs. Even if they did that, then dogs will only listen and bond with the trainers not a member of their family. Who paid the money out of their pocket.
