My 6 month old male Rottweiler is leaving dead spots in my beautiful lawn with his pee. Is this something I just have to accept, or is there something I can do about it? EI, give him more water, spray where he pees with the hose every time he pees, put somethining in the yard that neutralized his pee, etc..? Please let me know if you've dealt with this before.
Thanks!
Ryan
Just plain water works for me as well, but you have to get it on the spot fast otherwise some damage will occur to the grass. I use a 2 gallon watering can.
Bring the dog to my place.
He can kill all the lawn he can manage.
Heck maybe I'll even pay ya to get the deed done!
I've got two and they aren't getting the job done fast enough for my liking.
The damn stuff just keeps grow back in.
Hey! Is there something that I can feed them so to make the spots they cause in the lawn are more permanent?
There are "pills" you can purchase at the petstore which we've used in the past, and which do work well. However, I swear since we've switched to RAW the pH of the pee has been changed because we simply don't have anywhere near the number of "yellow" spots as we used to get. I have no idea if that is why, but there is definitely less yellow in my lawn!
I did some reading online and they're saying that the nitrates in dog pee cause this. I read that if your dog pees in one spot that the grass gets burnt from the nitrates. They say that this happens much more if you're already putting nitrates in your lawn (fertilizer). I guess i'm getting the worst of all worlds!
