Dogs need more than the physical. With just exercise, they build up stamina and could just go further and further without tiring. It helps to build in some mental games/training time that can MENTALLY exercise the dog as well.
This!!! Mental activity would really help wear off some of that extra energy and keep him happy because he has something to do!
since he nips, have you walked out the room and closed the door behind you. Then open it again and when he does it again, just walk over and go in and close it. It would take a few time of doing this and he would probably get the hint really quick. I had to do that to my Cody when he would jump up on me. I just turned around and faced the wall and ignored him. He learned very quickly I do not give attention to rowdy dogs. Might work, just a thought.
HI,
I have two female rotti's. Both of mine are older now, But I have raised quiet a few of them. All my rotti's have their kennels or crates. When they act badly I tell them to get in there bed. I don't leave them there long periods. But they will generally know they are in time out. My dogs all still love their beds. I would not suggest letting him get away with nipping you. His bite will only get bigger. I have used news paper and swatted them on the nose and say NO! Believe me they will try to see where your limit is.
my dogs even at pups loved alot of attention. They are generally very loyal and get attached to one person. They will still love everyone else in the family, but one will really have there heart.
