I used to tell people who asked my opinion about owning a BC to GO to a Trial. (Usually over near Letchworth or at Hopbottom) People used to say....why do they make the dogs do that sort of thing....then they went to a trial and saw the dogs going nuts waiting for their turn. Many people didn't get a BC after that. As it should be.
Nothing as fun as watching a dog do what they love.
Just bumping this up in case anyone might be interested in watching the best of the best in the sheepdog world compete tomorrow. Excellent handlers, excellent dogs and an excellent commentator.
No stronger argument in breeding a dog for the work when you see the work that a well bred dog is capable of. And Sonya, you're absolutely right - people need to see these dogs in action before getting one. Border Collies bred as they are meant to be are serious workers that need a job.

Oh man, I'm soooo sorry I missed this post earlier!! I'm going to see how far Middletown is from New Kent and see if there is any way I can make this happen. I've seen these amazing dogs work before but never cease to be amazed at their profound instinct and love of "gettin' 'er done".
