Tonight there was an event held at the local Middle School for kids and parents. There was a presentation and various community resources were invited to have a table with information on their organization and stuff.
We brought Drift. I can tell you that she drew in the kids better than candy, and she loved up everyone she met. While she loved up the kids, I answered questions posed by the parents
There were a few kids that I think kind of needed a Drift tonight. One girl sat down on the floor next to her, and started to tell me about her dog that just died from Cancer. Drift and I listened quietly, and when she was done with her story, Drift gave her kisses. She stayed with Drift for a while, and I gave them their space. Some things are best handled by the furry four legged therapists
Another little girl, 12, snuggled up to Drift and asked what Drift does with the kids at work. I smiled and said, "just what she's doing now." She had her mom take her picture with Drift so that she could remember her.
I know that Drift is amazing with our clients. I just wasn't aware that she could do so much for children that she's never met before, and will probably never see again. I know that at least two little girls will remember her for a long, long time.
Drift just keeps pulling more magic out of her hat. She is one amazing dog. I feel honored to share my life with her.
Again, thank you for listening to me talk about her
Maybe I am just a big 'ol softie, but when I read your stories about Drift, I can't help getting a lump in my throat, just knowing how special she is to these kids and to you Kelly.
I love to hear about special animals that make connections with people, and especially kids who need special love and attention.
It really makes my heart just feel all warm and fuzzy to hear your stories Kelly. She is one special dog, and you are a very special owner/momma!
I started getting goose bumps half way through paragraph three and I thought my skin was going to explode at the end.
Now that is one touching story.
Drift therapy is an incredible thing. What a special gift she has and an equally special mom that knows how to bring out the best in her at all the right places.

I have to say I got the lump as well. I have read her stories and love how wonderful she is. Keep up the good work Drift - you're a one of a kind!
