I would say the dog picked the track back up in the wet sand because moisture does hold scent long than a dry surface. DFrost Any behavior that is reinforced is more likely to occur again.

Not being a seasoned tracker, I may have thought the scent might get caught in between the grains of sand therefore making it an easy track so very interesting and good information. Thank you for the addition, timely or not.
