Hey everyone! I hope you are all having a great holiday season so far Okay..quick question. What toy(s) do you use that are durable and aren't easily torn up? In the past week Vader has gone through over 15 toys! Granted most of them were on the cheaper side and probably not suited to a working breed dog, but we are still having trouble finding something that he won't destroy. We went the store two days ago and spent a good bit of money on supposedly "tough" toys and he had them destroyed in less than an hour. We've given up on finding anything in our local pet supply store so I'm now moving my search to the internet. He currently only has one toy left in his crate (his kong) and I saw a crack in it this morning so I'll have to throw it away soon too. Any toy suggestions?
Oh, and off topic but we were able to go visit my family in NC for a week without having to board him afterall My husband is a cop and one of his k-9 buddies kept him for us at his house. He fell in love with him and said Vader is one of the most talented young dogs he's ever met Okay...back on topic lol....
Are we talking just for chewing? My pit bull has chewn everything we have given him from the pet store...including kongs and these are the only thing he has not been able to destroy. They have treats to go with it that are replacable so no worries on loosing interest . They also have these but I have never tried them, they look like the same type of product. Good luck with the "toy destroyer", he is beautiful .
They both manage to get the world decal that is on there, to come off, but that takes a while, but the ball itself lasts and lasts for a very very long time.
My dogs do love to bite down on the ball as they play with it, but this has been a great toy for them.
Sorry...should have been more specific. Yeah, we need toys that he can chew but not shred or swallow within minutes. He also LOVES plush toys but they don't last but a few seconds before he has the seams ripped and stuffing everywhere. He also eats anything so I'm constantly worried about him swallowing something and getting a blockage. I need toys that he can have in his crate to chew on and play with. He has plenty of tugs and balls for us to play with him, but he needs things that he can do on his own too. I love the kong because I stuff it with wet dog food and freeze it. I give him that whenever we leave and he has to be crated and it keeps him from barking. He's really sensitive too so anything like a rawhide or flavored bone gives him diarrhea.
I am fostering a wire fox with strong prey drives. She loves to chew. Bought the j p megablast med ball and found it very durable. She has broken pieces from a red kong. http: Also like the artichoke from planet dog. It survived my growing gsd. Planet dog toys are available here at leerburg
My boys love the goughnut. http://www.goughnuts.com/
I have both shapes and they have been very durable. They are a little pricey but they are supposed to have a lifetime warranty. I will say though that they just chewed the top of the one shaped like a stick so I will be testing this theory. I was told at the pet store when I purchased it that they will replace it so we will see. I will be getting to that after finals if not sooner so I can let you know.
Wow, those look great Juliana! Thanks! I will definitely be getting some of those! They are pricey but I've spent well over that on things that lasted a few hours. I love the fact that they have a warranty too!
I’ve also spent a small fortune on toys that were supposedly “tough”. We’re really lucky if they last an hour. Generally about 20 minutes of figuring out the weak spots and 10 minutes of destruction.
My absolute favorite, and I’m going to go out on a limb here and say indestructible is this: http://leerburg.com/1109.htm
Entertaining, chewy, bouncy. Can be used for distraction or toy reward. It’s incredible and they never seem to tire from it. It’s always an exciting thing when I bring it out. Great in a crate too.
The Egg is new and I find they lose interest in it quite quickly if I’m not actively making it move. They can’t get their mouth around it and their solution to the frustration is to ignore it. So although not the biggest hit, they haven’t destroyed it yet and lots of fun for interactive games.
Oooo...just found the black Kong online. Why the heck doesn't our local store sell these!?! I'll definitely be ordering that too! The red one we have just isn't strong enough but it's his favorite toy.
