I'm taking Jenny's approach and introducing myself. I've lurked for a few weeks before registering and have found the entire Leerburg site to be very helpful. THANKS for the great resources. I just ordered a few DVDs today with the great special offered.
I adopted a Belgian Malinois from the local shelter and am trying to quickly learn what I should have researched before the adoption. He's a good boy with some issues I'm working on day by day.
Luckily for me, he was fostered with a Behavioral specialist (who referred me to this site) and has been introduced to marker training. Now I need to catch up! It's so much fun and I'm fascinated with our progress individually and as a team.
Thanks, everyone, for posting. It sure makes the research and application of methods easier.

Hi Angela! A newbie welcome... I'm finding my mojo with Jethro, not letting him push me around. It's a pretty awesome feeling.
Today we were working on outfitting my bike with the WalkyDog attachment. The one we tried didn't work, but, oh, the power of Jethro having a chance to run full speed and just pull me on the bike. What a feeling. Tomorrow we should have the other rig attached and he will be able to give it a good heave ho. I'm clipping the walkydog to his harness, and putting a short leash on his Starmark collar so I have control of his head while he pulls with the harness. Luckily I have a nice, heavy, English bike. It feels like a pretty secure, safe setup. And we have low/no traffic in our neighbourhood.

Edit reason: PS
We've been doing some hiking & trail running; two new sports for me. But I think he really likes it. He also really likes water; after a few times of letting him drink from my camelback straw, I decided he should have his own water back pack.
I think he's on the small side for a Malinois (50-ish lbs); we're still working through some gastrointestinal issues right now as he lost some weight recently that he couldn't really afford to lose.
Lots of behavior issues with him...anxiety, nervousness, fear, etc.....But we're making lots of progress, and I'm fascinated with this new journey of training. Kudos to the Behaviorist who is helping me (us) along.
