The votes are tallied for the Second Fun Video Contest! Ten dogs learned new behaviors and helped train their handlers in the process. Thanks to all who participated by either posting a video or by voting for those who did!!
Two young trainers participated in this contest and these young gals earned more votes than ANY of the "seasoned" trainers!! GREAT job girls, and thank you for participating!!
Congratulations to Bessie & Jova and Annelise & Bumble Bee!!
Great job training your dogs! The girls will be receiving gift certificates to Petsmart to shop for their smaller pets at home.
Three dogs "tied" for first place, so we are going to use these three dogs as first, second and third place. Congratulations to:
Mara & Kenzi, Me & Falcon and Phaedra & Faroh!!
Based on the order of when videos were posted, Mara will select which prize she would like, then me, then Phaedra. (I was going to do alphabetically, but that put Falcon first so decided this was best).
HOWEVER, Meredith Hamiliton has generously offered hand knit hats or scarves to ALL of the other participants, so Katie's wish came true - EVERYONE WON!!! (THANK you Meredith!!)
Prizes for the top three dogs are:
A handknit, very soft wool cap made by Mara
A black/white custom sketch of your dog by Kristin Mortenses
A set of hand crafted dog-related note cards by me!
The folks who donated the prize will mail the item to the winners, and this will be handled through PM's. (THANK YOU again to Meredith who so generously offered to mail the gifts to FIVE participants!)
Again, thanks to those who made it happen and posted your video! As always, I'm inspired by what next to train from interacting with each of you!

I think that when people read about the great prizes and have recovered from the new year holiday, participation is going to increase, too, in these AWESOME competitions.
I love it that the next generation of trainers came onboard too!!!

I'm hoping that Phaedra will write a blurb about how to teach object recognition.
Thanks for saving me from a pile of scarves and hats. I've been knitting a lot as I can't snack whilst holding needles. (It helps!) I've already done 4 scarves for Special Olympians this year, and have donated hats to the kids at Tail Waggin' Tutors. I admit to being glad I don't have to send a project to Mara, a master knitter.
PM me your addresses and I'll mail stuff on Tuesday.

Thank you to everyone who voted!! As I watched those videos I kept thinking "wow, they're good - I don't think we're going to get it this time around" so it really is an honor to be chosen when so many people did some really great training with their dogs.
It is very neat to see everyone working with their dogs - right on down to the two youngest contestants!! Thank you Barbara for inspirig and encouraging us to train!
I decided that I really want Barbara's cards - so I'm choosing that prize!

Mara and Kenzi have selected the note cards as their prize so I'll get those in the mail on Tuesday.
I simply could not decide... The cold weather really made me want the hand knit cap, but I knew a sketch of my purty boy would be awesome as well... what to do, what to do?? I flipped a coin. Mara, I'm going to soooo enjoy the cap!!
Phaedra, you are the very, very fortunate recipient of a black and white sketch of your dog, and yes, you must post a picture after it is completed.
What wonderful prizes!!! Thanks again guys.

Thanks so much for the votes guys! I was going to choose the sketch if I won, so it all turned out great. I think it would be really nice to have as a memory of him, since they grow so fast. I always wanted to get a custom portrait of my last GSD Toro, by an artist who was not myself - but I never did.
I anxiously await instructions from the artist!
Meredith, that is so generous of you to knit for all the participants! As a fellow knitter (though mostly of socks - this was my first pair, I did them about 2 1/2 years ago, and I'm HOOKED!)
Also, I'm working an on call emergency weekend until Monday. So, Meredith if you want to PM me with a reminder, I will try write an outline of how _I_ did it, though it may not be helpful to others!
