She came in limping, & when i examined, pulled nail out; was in maybe 1/4-1/2" deep?
After removing, not much bleeding, really hard for me to see where it went in? She isn't licking it too much, & I swabbed with q-tip & povidone-iodine, all i have on hand.
She has walked on it since nail removed, tho maybe gingerly.
Any advice, 11:15 p.m. here.
tx in advance.

Dogs are as susceptible to tetanus as we are.
I'd take her into the vet in the morning.

I second the morning vet appointment...never had the experience with a dog but when I stepped on a nail even though it got cleaned out well I had a raging infection within the next day...not fun -_- puncture wounds can be tough to clean out properly...and shots are needed

I had the same thing happen years ago. Take her to the vet. It's not worth the risk.

Ditto on the vet visit ASAP. Tetanus is a possibility, as are all kinds of other nasty infections in a puncture wound that deep.

Some long acting penicillin, and some follow up oral antibiotics. Easy to treat right away-but bacteria festering in the complicated anatomy of the foot, the pad, the tendon sheaths -yikes. Hard to play "catch up ball" , but she'll be fine with early RX.
Good for you to look and figure out the trouble, amazingly not everyone does.

I say go to the vet too. I also tend to treat paw injuries like hoof injuries: I soak them in warm water with Epsom-salt and iodine to draw out anything potentially nasty and to keep the wound clean.

Thank you all, for your replies.
I called emergency vet last nite, & my vet this a.m.
Both seemed to advise just watching it for signs of infection?
& indicated that tetanus wasn't a concern in dogs (I think it may be because the antibiotics take care of tetanus bacteria).
She is, of course, a shepherd, so favoring it today is not in the equation! She is running, acting completely normal, now that that "thing" is removed!
Of course, this happened on the eve of a day that I had scheduled appointments all day today, grrr ....
Also, I did try the search function on here, but did not find any info.

Since it's a puncture wound you want to be sure it heals from the bottom up. Don't let the top of it heal over right away. If the top closes over and there is still an open puncture underneath, the possibility of having bacteria trapped inside that will cause the infection is much higher. When this happened to my pup I soaked it at least once a day and used an anti-bacterial wash. You can always use a slip-tip syringe to gently wash the wound (an eye dropper, etc. would also work). This will help bacteria from getting trapped inside
