I have been spraying my 7 year old GSD with a 50/50 solution of apple cider vinegar daily to provide her with some relief from allergies. It's only been somewhat successful, but that's another topic. Anyway, I treat her monthly with K9 Advantix. Does anyone know if the vinegar negetivly impacts the Advantix. Can I use both?
She only developed allergies upon relocating to the Dallas area. We've always given her flea & tick treatments. She had no allergies in either NY or KS, so it's safe to assume the allergies are not caused by the Advantix.
How long ago was the move?
Stress over the move alone could have suppressed the immune system enough to bring on anything else that was actually rather boarder line.
Does that make any sense?

Agree with this....stress can do really awful things to the immune system
We moved to the Dallas area over three years ago when my husband retired from the Army. Prior to that we had moved her from NY to Kansas with no issue. We're as close to certain as we can be that the allergies are seasonal. We've tried anithistamines, steriod boosters and now ACV. We've considered changing her diet to see if it helps with the allergies, but we've finally settled on a diet that keeps the diaherra under control.

I have the same problem with JD. He appears to have seasonal allergies primarily to the blackberry bushes.
I did, however, change his diet and he now gets TOTW Salmon. That really seemed to help. Same thing here, though, antihistamines (primarily Benadryl) didn't do much good. Going to try Chlortrimeton this season.
The other thing that seemed to really help was rinsing JD off after he'd been outside and anywhere near the blackberries. It wasn't his idea of fun, but it did cut down on the itching. We also bathed him at least every 2 weeks with the Epi-Soothe shampoo and conditioner from the vet.
Any idea what causes the diarrhea? Would probiotics of some sort help?
I am not sure about ACV over the body and K9 advantix, my dog's dermatology vet did tell me that it was okay to spray my GSD's feet (or spot treat) with ACV for yeast infection (very common in dogs with skin allergy). My dog was on Advantage Mutli (and still is) at the time.
My now 5 yr old GSD used to have really bad allergy problems (she would lick her paws until they became raw), I tried steroid shots (short term), cyclosporine (Atopica) with moderate success, switched her to raw, allergy shots based on blood work results (from her general vet, didn't work), frequent feet rinsing/wiping with damp cloth/changes of bedding/bathing.......etc.
What I found to be most helpful was a high dose of fish oil + Vit E, and consultation with a derm vet. This is the derm vet office my dog goes to: http://www.dermvets.com.
She is now on allergy shots (based on intradermal allergy testing) every three weeks. I've had her for almost 3 years, she started seeing the derm vet 20 months ago, and she has been symptom-free for 15 months.
Wendy I am in the DFW area also, and the allergies here are just about as bad as they can get. I also see the same Derm Vet group as Melissa. I have been very pleased with the Vets there.
I have used ACV also for final rinses with some level of satisfaction, and I also do the allergy shots. There are still times when I need hydroxyzine for bad cycles. I also do the therapeutic levels of salmon oil, works great in combination with the antihistamines.
Unfortunately, we are not as symptom free as Melissa is, but I hope to get there. I sympathize with you, I feel your frustration as it is mine as well.
