I rarely watch the news...it is depressing and the "human interest" stories are usually about animal cruelty and just torque me off. But the other day Paul had the news on and I was too lazy to turn the channel.
A woman in MN tried to mail a live puppy in a sealed box with no air holes, food or water. Did not tell the postal workers that it was a puppy. WTF????
She was mailing the puppy (a 4 month old poodle X schauzer named Guess) to Georgia for her Son's birthday. As everyone knows, nothing says "I love you" and "happy birthday" like opening a box with a dead dog in it.
The box fell off the counter and the postal workers heard suspicious sounds coming from the box so they opened it. They found the little pup panting inside.
The woman went to court to appeal the animal cruelty case and to get her puppy back.. I am assuming perhaps she would try a new post office... One of the comments she made was that she was upset because she was deprived of the joy of her son getting his birthday present. The judge called her "disgraceful".. I have different words, many of them containing only 4 letters...
Not an animal cruelty story, but definitely fits the "stupid" category...
Someone from Neilson called today conducting a survey. I normally decline immediately but said what the heck, okay... Questions eventually got around to types of pets/animals we have, so I said "cats, dogs and chickens". You can hear the woman checking off the cats, checking off the dogs, then trying to find out what to do about the chickens... you can hear her "thinking" while she is going up and down her list. Finally, she askes "would these go under hamster?" I swear, she asked if chickens should be categorized as hamsters. I just had to chuckle and say "ma'am, they are birds, they have feathers and they lay eggs - does that help?"
I have no idea how the hens were categorized on Neilson's survey...
Barbara. You're too stupid. Of course they would be classified as hamsters! LMAO! That made the whole survey not a waste of your time. Aren't you glad you took the call?
And sad to say as far as the woman mailing the puppy; there is no limit to people's stupidity when they think they might be saving a few bucks. UGH!!
Barbara, that is very funny! Maybe she was thinking HAM-ster, chicken, you know...ham comes from pigs, pigs and chickens are raised on farms, and...and...
Well, I'm pretty sure that people keep birds as pets, and a chicken would fit better as a "bird" than a "hamster". They likely also have an "other" category.
And perhaps Barbara considers her chickens pets!
