after much thought. I'm taking a 500hr trainers course for behavioral modification, basic OB, and helper/decoy work(SCH). It's three days a week with lots of homework, studying and tests. I have never been so excited for something involving those three things in my life! I have seen a lot of good trainers come out of there and i have worked with the instructor for Sch and basic OB with my dogs in the past. I'm so excited about it! hopefully over time i can offer some good insight and help others on this forum and "pay it forward" for all the good help i have received from the people here.
Take care
Rob

Gemini K9 a local place that has a really good reputation in Toronto. I first went there years ago when i had got a Rotty from the humane society i knew very little about training at that point and somebody suggested this place. I went there and feel in love training, and then found out about SCH and it was over. I have basically been buying DVDs and books ever since. Hopefully i can turn this expensive obsession into something that i can do for a living.

Keep me posted. I can't wait to hear how it's going! I'd love to do the same thing but don't know if I can find a place close enough to me.
Good luck!

Will do, I'm really looking forward to it.... If i lived where you do, I would try to get two weeks off at a time and go the the Micheal Ellis School in California. I would like to go someday but i have a feeling it would be hard to get one or both of my dogs into the states with all the quarantines, paperwork and all.

That would be a dream, wouldn't it? Getting 2 weeks off for me would mean 2 weeks without pay :-( Don't know if that would be in the cards anytime soon. Maybe some day.....

I didn't realize the Michael Ellis school is in Fairfield, CA! I grew up in the Napa Valley and lived there until I moved to WA 12 years ago. My in-laws don't live far from the school, although I have no desire to spend 2 weeks with them (especially with my dog) if I'm trying to go through this course. I love them, but our ideas are definitely different and I doubt the accommondations would be conducive for either me or JD (i.e., me getting to sleep on a lousy futon bed in the "guest" cottage so I could keep JD with me). Might be able to stay with a really good girlfriend over in Napa. If not, 2 weeks in a hotel wouldn't be a bad vacation especially having my pup with me.
You've intrigued me with this talk. I'm contemplating trying to see if I can go to the Intensive Obedience course in Sept.
It's all your fault!!!

Lol nice, I'll take the blame for that no problem. a vacation with your dog sounds good in my books. The ME School website lists a number of close hotels that i would only assume accommodate dogs. I hear you i like my girlfriends family too but staying for two weeks with Kasper would be a bit much.

I want to go too!!! I have been thinking of putting aside money for that class. It would be a dream come true! It is soooo far for me though. and two weeks away from my daughter...sigh. I wish I was smarter when I graduated high school and looked at my options and pursued a career I would enjoy instead of guys and parties.

I've wished that same thing many times, Kristi!
I'd probably want to drive down with JD so I don't have to worry about flying him with me and have to rent a car, too. That would take me another day and a half, probably.
It would be a big undertaking but if I can arrange it.....
Wouldn't it be fun for both of us to be there??
