Hi all,
Besides the obvious, how do you recognized handler agression?. Any subtle signs to look for?
I have a 6 months old female GSD (working lines), and not sure how to read her behaviour:
a) She loves to be petted by other peoples
b) Shows agression on other dogs, she will bark at all strange dogs. Not to dogs that are familiar to her.
c) I am starting basic obedience. but on the heel, she will always bites at me, legs, toes, etc. This I attribute it to lot of prey.
d) When a unknow person walk by, trying to not come close, she will bark at them, launching at the person.
e) When she hear strange noises at night, she will start growling and barking at times. This I thing is sharpness on her side.
f) She is already doing bite work, she bites the puppy sleeve.
My baby(4 months) does almost all of those...she wont growl or bark at people though...just try to jump on them at times for some love. but other then that, my bitch will put her hackles up at the sight of a strange dog...she barks growls lunges at them...its really very annoying. After they meet and are introduced she is fine...she just does not like them coming near her person(me) and will snap at them...but then go right back to playing. my girl LOVES to go for the legs and toes...even if im just walking(I always thought it was just herding instinct) I let her do it for a little while then I throw her toy and she's OFF(lol) She barks constantly..its soo annoying but I praise her for it(she thinks she's a big doggy now), when she hears any little noise..she's at the window barking and growling.
My little girl is "playing" with the sleeve now. I put it on one of my buddies and she went for it! but I heard this is not such a good idea(to introduce such a young dog to the helper) So she's back to ripping it up while we play with it.
nice to see that someone else has some of the same "puppy behavior" as my little Eva.
I dont see a problem with it...but eva is my first GSD. Id like to here more experienced people's input on this.
