You are very fortunate indeed - this could have been much, much worse. I'm really glad you and your dog are okay.
Wasn't the individual who was attacked able to get this dog off the street/pts?? It sounded pretty serious.
It is too late for you to hire a lawyer to handle the stress for you and pursue charges against the owner?
ETA: what do you mean by "nobody listened to me"?

I meant to ask:
Is it too late for you.....??

"I wish I had some pix of what my dutchie did to the pitbull."
Not a comment I like to see on one of the better dog forums on the net!
Sounds just a bit braggardly......and sick!

Considering the dog is supposed to have attacked a person before your dog I'm sure the owners gonna get jail time regardless of what you do and I'm surprised the dog wasn't shot on site seems to happen everwhere else a pitbull is.
Also very well said Bob, I agree wholeheartedly this really isn't the place for comments like that, no matter how angry you are.

In re-reading my post this AM, I'm not sure my point came across as intended.
For such a supposedly serious situation, and if it happended as you said, it was a very serious situation, I don't get the "gee... one more place I can't walk my dog" attitude.
If this had happened to me with my dog, I would have felt very compelled to do anything and everything in my power to make sure this dog was off the streets for good and the owner was help liable. Not only for my own safety, but that of my community as well.
Being proactive and trying to do something about this type of situation might actually be very benefical to your brain condition.

At this point the edit window has passed on your post, so one of the mods will have to remove the profanity in the OP.
You seem to have the worst luck with dogs; the tragic death of your previous Dutchie following antifreeze poisoning and mishandling by the Vet's office leading to her accident, and now this.
You write about them very well, however.
Has this incident made Logan's pre-existing dog aggression any more severe?

"I could have charged the idiot owner with her dog running at large. It would have been a $1000 fine if she was convicted, since her dog attacked while it was loose. But my disadvantage makes it not worth the stress (I have a serious brain disorder). Besides, that fine is BS, she needs jail time!"
Unhappiness at the limit of the punishment is zero reason not to pursue this. Simply file the police report, minimizing your stress but not letting it go in any way.
JMO, and of course I don't know how limited your actions are. But it will be very stressful to allow the dog's owner to get off scott-free.
By the way, I too understand the stress of the moment, but "you should see what my dog did to his dog" smacks of dog-fighting language and enjoyment of dog injuries; you might really want to be very careful not to tar yourself wrongly with that brush.

Re: to all
Barbara, I have looked online but no statue of limitations is listed. The website is poorly done but I'm sure the magistrate's office could tell me. As for them not listening, I tried to tell them to grab the other dogs ankles so nobody would get bit. Luckily, nobody else did get bitten.
As for not charging her, I have debated over it many times. I want to for the sake of what's right. I'm also afraid to because unfortunately, the stress of going to court about this could easily trigger problems for me. I don't think I need to go into details of my condition to explain why I would know how to best manage it. Part of it is because I was very angry at the time towards the owner. I am not always able to use the kind of judgement I would like to be using.
Bob Scott: I was thinking long the lines of Ed's dog fight page and all of the graphic pictures...not about posting them for "bragging rights". I can se how it sounded that way though, I wish I had edited it before I posted.
Brad Higgs, sadly it doesn't work that way here. If the dog was already deemed viscous, then they could have up to year in prison for an attack. The guy who was bitten, refused to go to the hospital, refused to press charges, won't answer his phone, etc.
Aaron Myracle, his dog-aggression/dominance issues did present a small challenge afterwads. He is not easy to correct and I need to do more work ith him on passing dogs/people and not looking at them. He stops looking when I say no but always waits until I say it.
Connie, I realize now how what I posted sounded way off from hat I really meant, I was very surprised that he was able to hold off that big dog, I really love him and could have been badly mauled if he wasn't there...I've already said it but I realy screwed up by not editing that, what else can I say?

At the very least, you might call and see if you can still file a police report. This way, if something else happens with that dog, it will be on file.
