I guess my recall with Harley is getting very good, my thinking was a bit off.
We have that creek on the farm and there is an island with a side that is about 6' from the shore and the other side is a solid 15'.
Harley ended uo the island by the narrow side while playing. I called him back! from the wide side. He did try to jump but landed in the creek and came to me!
That earned him a bath but he really try hard to get the shortess route to me.
I called because I did not want him to go in the creek, stupid me!!
Awwwww. I can see it: "Hang on! Comin, Ma!" What a good Harley! You must've laughed...while shaking your head. I wonder if Harley will use a thought-process to navigate in the future because he ended up ker-plunk or if "come" means just that--most direct route--no matter what ever happen(s).
