are we talking about a GSD?
On second thought I'm guessing that this came back as a "mild" set of hips because of the shadowing on the socket on the left side (right on the film). I'd probably want new set of X rays taken to be sure if that was the case..

Edit reason: a new thought
Don't know that I've seen enough xrays to make any more then just a guess. But I want to play so.....
To me that right hand socket looks a might shallow to me. And like wise with the ball, a bit small and not nearly as well formed as the left at all.
From a complete beginner standpoint, I beleive the OFA would rate these as normal, but erring on the side of caution, I would say it could be bordering on mild due to the right side looking just a bit shallow to me. The ball also looks a little smooth on that side compared to the left.
The leg bones seem to be coming off at a different angle than the other x-rays I have viewed, but I wasn't sure if that was the way the dog was placed or if it was an angle in the hip to leg itself. I'm not sure if this is what you meant by position, but this is an interesting subject to learn about. I'm all ears

Only pic I have Randy...... Don't know if it would make a difference or not but it's been forwarded a couple of times. I *think* it's the angle of the picture and not of the dog but I really don't have a clue.
Amy, I'm learning right along with you! Xrays were shot of this dog when he was about 6-8 months old and they looked better. I'm trying to get a hold of a copy of them for comparison.
