Yesterday I started our new treat program by boiling stewing beef and cutting it into tiny chunks. There was this pot of water left over and I thought, "Huh, I don't want to waste that!" and stuck it in the fridge overnight. This morning I was getting ready to go out, I had walked the dogs and everything was set to go. I set the cooled pot of stew water out by the water bowls, crated Jethro and left. Skipper usually sleeps in his bed and hangs out quietly as long as Jethro is nearby for company.
When I got home I could hear Skipper barking from a half a block away. I had been gone about 5 hours, which should have been okay. I opened the front door and immediately realized I had set things up for an 'accident'. There, right in front of the door was a pool of dog pee. Skipper was frantic to get out, and sure enough, the entire pot of stew water had been licked dry.
Skipper is a 20 lb. dog, and he must have drunk a quart of that water. No wonder he couldn't hold it! *face palm* I felt so bad. I've never thought of picking up the water when we are out because it has never been a problem. Doh. And here I leave a pot of baited water out.
Yep, he'll forgive you. I'm sure he didn't make the cause and effect connection and just thought it was awfully nice of you to leave him a special treat.

Gee whiz Claudette that's a gorgeous dog!!
Too funny Jenny! Sorry you had to deal with that mess and you must have freaked to have heard the barking before you even got home! Jethro must have wondered what the heck was going on! Has Skipper pretty much overcome that bite incident?
