I shot this video of Bommi a few days back with my crappy mobile phone. Some times I get the feeling that she totally ignores me in a sweet way of course.
Ram, she DOESN'T look like she feels well... to me, if she were "ignoring" you, there would be a little wag of the tail or something... how is she acting overall?
No No , she is perfectly healthy. She eats well, makes some crying/howling noises at me when she wants to be picked up. I just completed a training session with her. She just doesn't care if I lift her up or bother her when she sleeps. She just ignores me.
She is weird, she has her vocabulary of vocalizations, one for pick me up , one for lets go for a walk, one for I have to pee, one is a bogus cry to make me stop bothering her. I will make a video clip of all that.
She will be on my lap and I can get hold of her front legs together in one hand and rear legs in one hand and lift her up , upside down and she will just be looking at some thing else.
may be because I pick her up and cuddle her so much she has learnt that nothing bad will come from me and she does not have to bother.
Does she do this often, or is this a recent development? I don't know Bommi's "personality," of course, and I'm not trying to make any kind of diagnosis, but it seems like what I'm seeing is a very lethargic dog that may not be feeling well.
eta: Sorry, Ram, we were typing at the same time. Okay, so this is typical behavior for her. That makes me feel better. She looks like a very sweet, mellow girl. My male Dobe was like that when he was a puppy. He would play so hard it wore him out, then he would be crashed and you could push/pull him, lift his feet, and he would just lay there, ignoring you, acting like he was a rag doll or something.
may be the title was misleading. That is how she has always been. If she really wants some thing bad, she will do a total down with her head down and there will be just a little bit of her tail at the end wagging which will give it away.
Ever since she was a baby, she loves to be picked up. Ofcourse I love it too. So it works for the both of us. I think she has come to the conclusion that I am not going to hurt her, so she can ignore me.
But there is a flip side to it. Even if I give her the slightest of corrections (with a flat collar and a leash pop) it upsets her.
I will post an other video of her pretty soon for you all to see that she is healthy.
