an armed criminal in at large, he already has shot at our local police, the police are going thru the swamp and woods trying to find him last seen about a mile from the house. I got the dogs out, two in the yard, one in the house. got my pistol and an autoloader rifle. I cooked on the grill any goddam way. I generally felt secure were I live, I live in "CopLand" This moron bailed in the wrong neighborhood.
I'm just a little anxious. I looked down the sites of the pistol and I can't see shit, the autoloader has a scope, the same one I used in GW 1. I haven't been to the range in YEARS. shooting the pellet rifle with my son doesn't really count. Hopefully the dogs will raise hell and the perp will move on. My nieghbors are armed and watchful. I wont be able to sleep until they catch this guy.
If he is trying to keep a low profile & move away from the police...he doesn't want a bunch of maniac dogs anouncing his location...so I suspect he will give your yard a wide berth.
I understand your concern with kids in the house especially...as desperate people do desperate things. Still think the dogs will be a BIG deterrent for you. THAT's their JOB!
A fine bead and a steady hand. Maybe even take the scope off if it hasn’t been sighted in for years. Sometimes just putting them away can cause a slight bump, enough to knock it way off.
Sounds like you’re well prepared. How scary though. Stay safe.
again, I'm counting on the dogs ALOT. they'll raise a ruckus and get a bite, two of them have real bites as well as decoy bites which will give me time to call 911 and take careful aim if needed

Can you say 870, with that you only have to be in the general area, it won't go through your neighbors house, into your other neighbors house and few things are more nerve-wracking, than the "racking" of a shotgun.

Any behavior that is reinforced is more likely to occur again.

lets hope he fears a nerve bag with a gun more then he does the police.
Might be a long night. I think I figured out the police's game plans. they surrounded the area waited and for darkness, the news is reporting that units are moving into the wooded areas now, probably to make use of night vision and IR equipment. Hard for a perp to hit something he can't see
