I am a little concerned about this with Keiko. I went to the breeders and saw where the pups were raised and it was a large space also clean.
Keiko seems to pick no place to go, just goes where he stands and will lay next to sit on or step on the poop. He doesn't go in his crate and has been good in that regard. Is this something I should be worried about or is this puppy clumsy? (I don't remember if Zuki had this problem) If it is something to worry about what should-could I do about it?

Perhaps it is prejudice on my part but I find prick eared dogs to have a finer sense of hygiene than drop eared dogs.

One of my two GSDs will crap anywhere in the yard and walk around while he does it. No problems with stepping in it either.
The other GSD acts likes he stepped on a snake if he even get close.
Some dogs are just weird for no particular reason.

Both of mine go in an area close to the fence but they have their own "turf" in that zone, they are aware when a spot has been taken by the other one and check it out then go to the other spot and crap there!

Some pups (or full grown dogs) just plain don't care if they get poop on them or not, unfortunately. My Golden poops neatly next to the fence and never goes near it unless she has to. Haz will run through it, roll in it, lay on it, etc and it never phases him, much to my dismay! Too soon to tell with the new guy, but maybe it's a boy vs girl thing I guess it's the same with people and their "yuck tolerance" too. My sister can give pedis, but I would puke touching someone's feet.
My only suggestion would be to marker train him to go in a little used corner of your yard with a short landscaping fence defining 2 or 3 sides to decrease the probability that he will lay in it by accident.

Just personality quirks, I suppose.
Recently my dog was out in the yard and all of a sudden, he raised up he rear leg and was hopping around like he was horribly injured. I was panicking!
Yep, he had stepped in poop.
My dogs also all have an "area" in which they choose to go, but this developed as they left puppyhood.

Yep, he had stepped in poop.
I've got one like that, too. On two different occasions just recently, he accidentally stepped in poop in the yard, with his front foot. Both times, he stopped, picked up his foot like he'd stepped on something hot, and the look on his face said, "EWWW, YUCK!!!"
It could be just personality, or it could be something your pup will grow out of, kind of like human children don't always have the greatest sense of cleanliness. It can't hurt to try to discourage him from going near it, though. I know when I'm in the yard, playing fetch with the dogs, we will sometimes come close to a pile I missed, and I'll point to it and say, "Uh-oh, watch out for the poop!"

My Havok has no problem lifting his leg to pee, and hitting the front one... It was the same when he was a puppy... Always got his chest/tummy area or his front leg(s) when he squatted...
Dumb dog!

My experience is it is something my dogs have learned to avoid due to my reaction. Just like when my kids would come home from school and try out a new word they had heard. They would know immediately if it was bad just by the look on my face. When my dogs go near poop or snif it I say, "Ewww, Yulk, or Gross!" And by the way I say it they back away like it will jump up and bite them. Although I think if given the chance as puppies they would have liked nothing more than to play in it. My daughter was dog sitting my puppy once and when I got home and she said, "Shiloh ate poop!" my reply was, "Why did you let her, she was after all, at the end of the leash you controlled?"
