Ok so have this cat named buttercup she has for years and years pooped on the dinning room floor by the table. It's pretty much the center of the house and where everyone gathers for everything.
They've tried changing litter . I'm getting tired of this because I feel like I'm walking in a mine field when I go from the tv room to the kitchen and I figured someone here might have some idea's how to stop this. Right now there's 3 different piles of poo on the floor by the table. My little kids play on that floor. Has to be away to get this cat to poo where she should poo..
She's a very skittish cat. She hides all the time it seems like but I still see her moving around the house.
I would not be visiting them with my kids, if it were me. Let them come to your house. Can't even imagine the amount of germs etc that those kids are being exposed to...including worms etc.
Cat should be kept in one room until the cat no longer does this. At least you can them keep the cat from going elsewhere in the house & can make sure that it is using its pan.
You can try Natures miracle cleaner. It removes the enzymes that draw dogs back to an area that they may have previously used to potty. I would guess that it may work for cats too. But not sure, my cats have never done this.
I would also steam clean the carpet or disenfect the floor, if it's wood.
I would also make sure that the cat pan is very clean. Some cats won't use it if it is too dirty.
Just curious why you are still showing a pic of Gambit on you post, since you no longer own the dog?
Gambit: Because I like the picture. I also miss him tremendously. Mals take up so much of your time if your a father it's not really fair to your family. I know that now. I also have a ton more experience than I did when I started and plan to just wait a few years until my kids are grown then maybe get another one. I have tons of network contacts for good dogs now. That dog isn't just happy because he's with Jamie he was as happy when he was with me too. Ask Jamie i'm not a bad guy LOL (we talk all the time on the phone still about gambit)
And an old, old trick from my mother-in-law: wrap some moth-balls in some old pantyhose...but it where you don't want the cat to go. It's worked for us and my vet as well.
Yikes, the worst I have ever had is a cat who liked to poop right in front of the litter box!
We had two cats at the time and the key was (as mentioned before) keeping the litter box super clean...like nothing in it, because that cat would only use it if it was empty of poop.
We got an automated cat box that scooped automatically and that took care of the issue.
