We were supposed to pick up our 8 week old american bulldog rescue today. We got a call from foster mom say she need to take dog to vet. She has blood in her stool. Could this be serious?
Turns out it is just a minor infection. This happened right after a long 4-5 hour trip. The foster mom took her along w/on a tip to inlaws house for christmas.
We pick up puppy tomorrow. I have a question about interaction and play time w/puppy.I purchased the house training ebook here, seems to me thr puppy spends most of time in crate. How often is play time and for how long? I want to make sure we crate train properly.
Hey, Brian. Your new question will probably get more attention if you post it in a new thread. People might not notice crate questions under a bloody poo heading.
Walks as in potty breaks? However often they need to use the bathroom. If they pee or poop in the floor, you waited too long. I know that sounds like a smartass answer, but I'm being for real. Puppies like to use the bathroom after they eat, drink, wake up, and play. And then all times in between.
Just make sure you have the pup out often, and praise the snot out of it when it uses the bathroom outside. Take a toy and have an exciting game of tug when it uses the bathroom where you want. Clean up and ignore the accidents.
For playing, I play as much as I want. Pretty much all the time.
Well we picked the puppy up last fri. and she is fine. Nothing serious, they think it may have had something to do with the stress of a long car ride. The foster mom drove her to her parents which was 5 hrs away one way.
This is the first female puppy we ever had and so far the best puppy. She sleeps all night not getting up once. She goes into her crate no problem. We take her water away at 6 pm let her out at 9-10pm for last time and not a peep til morning. So far not one accident, she is so smart, we have her on lease all the time and when she needs to go out, she walks over to do and sits. Amazing, 9 weeks old. The foster mom I'm sure was a big help with the training.
The only issue i see is she is nipping quit a bit. Any advice on that? We are very blessed to get such a smart dog.

Brian .... just a quick suggestion:
You want to start a new thread (i.e., new topic, or subject) when you change the question. That is, walks and nipping won't get the right attention when the heading is "Blood in Puppy Stool."
I modified it, but the best thing is to have a new thread for a new topic.
Michael caught it, but many folks won't. If they don't know anything about bloody stool, they would be fairly unlikely to click on the post.
