Wanted to share the great news- CJ was adopted by a great family today! He has 2 new kids that are about 10 and 14 to love him and 2 new dog friends that he already gets along with wonderfully.
Mom and Dad seem to be very dog smart and did things just the way I would have if I were bringing a new puppy into the mix. I was able to drop him off at his new home tonight and he has a huge new house, big fenced back yard and now only lives 4 blocks from us! I will be hoping to steal a glimpse of him romping around, though it is unlikely considering he will be a full time house dog My last glimpse of him was with the boy sitting on the porch, dog in lap getting a belly rub. Tail wagging like mad, licking his new laughing best friend all over. They were bathed in the soft glow of a thousand Christmas lights. It brought major tears of happieness. I love happy endings. Thanks Ladies! It really was a fun experience to have him around. Dawna, the only thing keeping me from being a foster failure was the fact that I have goals I would like to reach first with my existing dogs first. (and I need to save room for my future GSD I might get some day ) I think we will foster again when the right dog for our family comes around.

That makes me feel a little better as Calvin (formally known as Nitro) is helping me reach my goals with Hobbes. His nonreactivity to other dogs is starting to brush off on Hobbes as they have a friendly competion to see who can get more of Mom's treats. It's nice to see Hobbes automatically look at me for the snack at first sight of another dog if for no other reason than to make sure Calvin doesn't get them all. On the other hand, Hobbes is helping me train Calvin to do carting as well so it's a win-win situation. For some insane reason, there's nothing like banging your head against a wall for 6 weeks to bond a dog or dogs and human togather. It's always been the most labor intentsive ones that I've kept. Glad to hear that you'll foster again.
good luck on finding your GSD when you're ready as my hubby would also like one, or a dobe or rottie. It won't happen for quite a while though as in several yrs at least.
