I have a new 14 week old GSD. Most of the time she will pee in the yard on a potty command. But she refuses to poop outside. No matter how long we walk, how much exercise as far as games nothing. But as soon as she is back in her crate I get the present. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

How long have you had the dog? Has she pooped outside at all?
Do you have this weekend off? Because I can tell you the beginning of the sure cure, and it involves staying outside with her, and making sure she gets a little exercise to stimulate peristalsis, until she HAS to go. Then you party down, with rewards and praise.
In addition, the pup is tethered to you when you are inside.
Also, do you have a pretty good idea of her poop time? That would be the time you would be SURE to be right with her, outside, or at least with her tied to your belt inside.
I know I went over this quickly, but please post back with questions.
Post back if the poop time seems to be during the night; that can be manipulated with mealtime changes, but it might require some alarm clock work for now.
You want to fix this now, and not let a habit become entrenched. Tethering, a poop journal, loads of outside-with-you time -- these are the main points.
This can be fixed quickly, but you don't want to wait.

Thanks Connie, it happens at different times. She seems to have no schedule at all, that has been the biggest problem. And she gives no warning of any kind till after the job is done then she whines. She also has no problem about laying in her own messes which makes me think that the breeder may not have kept her kennel real clean.

Almost every healthy dog has a tie between meals and poop times. A simple journal usually shows the pattern.
But for right now, I would plan on making this the weekend of fixing this. If she was forced to be dirty at the breeder's, you have a job, but it CAN be done (been there, done it, many times).
As for "no warning," a dog tethered to your jeans is going to be noticed when she squats. Then you hustle her quickly but calmly outside and praise like crazy when she completes it outdoors.
Bump this in the morning and I/we will answer any questions you might have about tethering, peristalsis, etc.
Please remember how NOT her fault this is. Creating negativity around bodily functions is really counter-productive .... you want to work with her schedule, never ever correct (even verbally) for accidents (which are of course handler error), and make outdoor potty a celebration event.
We'll help. You CAN do this, and I'd start now.

PS
And when she has gone outside, that's a good place to return to next time, as a reminder of what happy things happened from pottying in that spot.

Thanks a million for the ideas and will try implementing in the morning. I have really been able to handle the disappointment of this happening so far but it is starting to wear on me. Really needed the ideas to get a handle started.

Try what she said first, it should work and sounds the best.
Another idea is to play with her before "poop time" and then if possible leave her in an ex-pen (or similar makeshift pen) OUTSIDE until she poops, rescue her as soon as she poops, eventually take the pen away and that's her poop spot. That's how people potty smaller dogs and pups at the shows. A lot of breeders I used to know potty train this way.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog. |

To go along with what Connie sad about the time relating to meals, it has always helped me if I try to feed dogs who are learning house skills at a consistant time. I didn't see if you are doing that or not, but it might be worth a shot. Good luck with your potty training woes. Just remember, she poops in the crate, but she's probably really, really cute so that cancells it out while you fix this little speed bump
