We have asked a mastiff breeder familer with the test to be our tester. She is not sure if her Husband can be the scorer that day.
does the scorer have to be unknown?
also, we are of course handling them lots.. the techs at the vet commented how they see pups barely handled.
we had to have the pups chiped and blood draws done, one little guy was very noticibly upset (rightfully so) and did not recover very fast from the handling.
I wonder if special handling will influence the testing, we are keeping notes on behaviours and want the test as a kind of double check.
Dave,
Many of us here use the Bernard Flinks evaluation for working prospect pups, you should be able to find many old posts about the test and results discussion.
I've found the Flinks test to be tougher but ultimately more accurate for testing potential working dogs ( Betty W. and I have tested several of her litters with spot on accuracy ).
I would be very interested in seeing what your test consists of exactly Betty. I'd be even more interested in coming down there to do a few, but first things first! =P
picking up confidence makes sence, being our first litter we really want to have a good double check for what we think, a couple of the pups may have a future as therapy dogs.
Will mentioned spot on accuracy, may I ask how old are the first pups you temparment tested?
Dave,
I can remember one small litter of Betty's in particular, three males only but all of them tested exceptional, and I don't use that term often.
Any pup with scores that high could excel in any venue that an owner or department would want, it was the best, most uniform litter that I had ever tested ( and I've tested *hundreds* of litters, and I'm not exaggerating there....)
Betty can fill us in on the eventual homes/jobs....
