What is recommended for 2 month old pups with a not to much mange. A little on the elbows and belly. I read a recommendation I think Connie wrote about mange in pups that got it right after they had the first shot.
Anyway I have been keeping the pup really clean and putting sulfur and Vaseline on her each day. She is a little less itchy but don't know if it is really helping yet. (Vaseline with sulfur is the mexican treatment for mange and for what I have seen it works).
Anyway just looking for what you would do. I have heard that the dips make them sick and there just seem to be so many ways to treat it.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe all dogs have the mange mite. The pups will get them from the mother. It's just a matter of stress and a few other things that can trigger an infestation. Some dogs are more prone then others.

Localized spots of puppy mange (demodex) are not uncommon, and usually resolve without any treatment at all. Bob's right--demodex mites are a normal part of the population of critters that live on all dogs. Normally, the dog's immune system will keep the population in check enough that they cause no problems.
Most puppies that get a spot of demodex mange will grow out of it as their immune system develops.
It only becomes a problem if multiple spots develop, or cover larger areas of skin--then it develops into so-called "generalized demodicosis." The test to confirm it is a skin scraping which will extract some mites from the hair follicles that can be seen by the vet under a microscope.
Give it a month or two. If it gets no worse, and isn't causing the dog any discomfort it will likely improve on its own. If the salve you're putting on it seems to help, then at least it gives you something to do.
Dipping a puppy (Amitraz dip) would not be a good idea, IMO, for a localized case.
