I'm considering the ADV1002 for my great danes and was wondering if the missing features on this model are that important.
For those of you who have these features on your collars, do you use them often? If you didn't have them, do you think the collar would be as effective?
The buttons on the controller for stim and adjustments appear like they would feel exactly the same so I wonder if anyone has problems hitting the adjustment button when intending to hit the stim button. Does anyone know if there is a stimulation setting lock so that I don't accidentally raise/lower the stim level then hit the stim button? Anyone with this unit ever have this problem?
Other brands seem to have a more cumbersome process to switch between collars. The Dogtras, it appears you have to flip a small switch on the back of the unit to switch between collars, which means only one at a time can be used. Does anyone have opinions on this?
What do you mean by switch between collars? I use the Dogtra 200 and 175. If I'm working with two dogs, I just have two remotes. There's no way to accidentaly change the stim level while pressing the buttons, because it's a dial on top. I *always* use the nick button, and often use the pager. With the method I use, I would never buy a collar that didn't have at least the nick. (Just as an aside, I had a Innotek for like 3 days. I found it to be very inferior in quality to a Dogtra, and would never buy another. JMO)
For what it's worth, I personally don't care for Innotek. I bought a collar from them which would turn itself on while on my dog! This happened more than one once, where I had my dog wearing the collar during the day and I made sure it was off, when I got home the green light would be blinking. I switched to Tri-tronics and have never had a problem. If I had to do it again I would buy Dogtra or Tri-tronics. Jmo
I own a innotek with the 2 dog controler and have had for 2 years. I rarely use it due to it's lack of relialbilty and tendancy to stim on it's own. I would reccomend spending the money on a tritronics.
