This is a lot of pressure for her, but it was good and she needed it. She gets very bored doing protection on the schutzhund field only. It's not serious enough to her so she stays engaged but doesn't really show any flare.
Today she actually tried to bite the helper in the face (when she goes into the blind and you can hear him yell at her and you can see our reactions of holy crap!). He started stabbing her with the whip instead of just whipping it, and that really pissed her off. She's never gone for a face before but she literally jumped up and tried to eat him. It was good and bad. I liked her reaction, but I don't want her biting helpers in the face!

Thanks! Will, yeah, she's definitely got a bit of an attitude when she gets pissy. I actually liked that she tried to get his face, because it shows you were her focus is and what she's barking at. She's not equipment oriented at all, she's not barking at the sleeve, she's barking at the MAN. I just need to teach her that she can only bite the sleeve, lol.
Ram, she definitely loves doing protection. She's a funny little dog. Actually she's a fun very large dog, lol!
I liked how she could give a rat's ^$$ about the sleeve after she dropped it when the decoy was in front of her.
Her grandad climbed up in my lap at a Flinks seminar some yrs back. He wasn't there to cuddle. He just gave me a big, nose to nose, FU right in my eyes. I don't think I needed my bran muffins for a couple of weeks after that.

That's one of my favorite things about her, Bob. She likes to engage. Even though she tried to bite him in the face, it shows you what she's focusing on and what she's really barking at.
That's a great story! I wish I could meet Fetz! Or maybe not...lol
She looks good...he's putting a fair amount of pressure on her & she is holding her own except for that little side step & fleeting second she was not sure at the end & then she went forward again. She is doing what you would want to see her doing at this point in training & coming along nicely. She is just a little over 2 now right?
It look like she is outing that sleeve without your needing to command her, as she seems more interested in him then the equipment...or are you outing her.

Thanks all.
Anne, she's almost 3. Didn't start doing protection until 2 years old and had a bad session with a bad helper really early. She's really come back from it.
I'm not outing her at all. That's all her wanting to eat the bad guy!!
Wow..time flys. I really didn't think that she was that old. I thought more like 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 at the most. Yikes.
She's going to be solid. Just take it slow with the pressure. Don't overface her, as I am sure you have learned. She is a nice girl...she will do well for you. SchH/IPO will be a joke for her. (SMIRK) Keep up the good work with her...you make a great team!
Spent 6 days with Will & the Fetzman a few years back. He is a REALLY 'nice' boy.....Ahh...so is Will. :-)
