Ok I don't have anyone to film it for me so I set up the camera towards where the article was hidden. So forgive the far awayness, lack of entirety and off screen waiting. LOL
It is very windy today (storm coming) and the wind was changing directions like crazy but he found it!
You ever let him just hunt for things Tresa? I don't know that it serves any purpose, but I enjoy letting mine just search with no input from me. All just for fun.
See what he does, just for fun. As long as its safe, let him off leash in the brush or tall grass and let him just hunt for his toy or something he really likes.
No ob or indicating on anything. Just an outlet for some drive. My dog loves it.
What Steve said! Most dogs love the game.
When we tested a new dog for hunt drive in SAR we would toss the dog's fav toy while it was watching then turn the dog around a couple of times. Amazing how that weeded out dogs that really didn't know how to actually hunt on their own.
Again, following what Steve said. Keeping the dog on lead can create a handler dependent dog. toss the toy without the dog seeing it and walk down wind from it and see if the dog alerts/indicates/ finds it with no commands at all.
