Hi all
My dog appears to have a cough, but at present is only in the morning when he gets up.
It sounds like a honking, a little gaspy when pulling on the lead.
Other than that he seems in perfect health, he is still playing, eating, drinking, running at 100mph and even went to his first flyball session yesterday.
Just a little concerned. Any Ideas would be appreciated.
I wish I did. It started Saturday morning. After she got up and started moving around it went away. Same thing Sunday morning and again today. She has a ton of energy and will play all day. Her appetite is as good as ever.
Well, the "goose-honk cough" is the hallmark sign of kennel cough. Look it up and see what you think. The windpipe is irritated, so pulling on the collar increases coughing.
Most dogs get over it untreated. Some need antibiotics. I can't remember if antibiotics make the dog less contagious (something they'd like at the flyball class!!!) or not.
Look up kennel cough and see if it sounds like your dog.
Hi
Just a little update. I took him to the vet today as he coughed up a little phlegm.
He said the he thinks he has inflammed larynx.
He also asked if he had ate any snails or slugs, which he did about 6 weeks ago. Slugs can cause lung worms i believe.
So what was the outcome.
