The massacre today in my county (Farifield County,CT) has left us all in a state of shock & total disbelief that something so horrific can happen in our back yards. This is mostly an upscale suburban county a bit more than an 1 1/2 hours outside of NYC.
20 kindergarteners (BABIES) along with 6 adults killed today buy a gun yielding mad man.
What is happening in the world today that someone can do this to little children. Happening at this time of the year makes it even more difficult to deal with. Just so sad. How do you go on after this kind of event? How do you heal & pretend that the holidays are a happy time.
Anne, I thought about you today. I knew you lived in CT and wondered if this was anywhere near you. I cannot wrap my mind around the horror of this event. Sometimes it feels like civilized society is just disintegrating into insanity.
My heart is breaking for your entire community but especially for the families of those innocent and mostly so-very-young victims.
I also thought of you today Anne. I live near Rt. 84 in Dutchess County NY and my wife is from Fairfield Co. The people of CT are wonderful. My thoughts are with the victims and their families.

I am all for concealed handgun licensing for teachers. Or at least a k9 for each classroom. Children should be protected. Let's get rid of these 'soft' targets for these scumbags. You notice the cowards never go into police stations, the always go into the places where the the know someone won't shoot back. Grrr.
My heart and prayers go out to the parents, I can't imagine having one of my kids taken away.
Ken...I would be all for each school having an armed security person in the building while kids are on the property. I don't think that armed teachers would be a good solution.
I had my horse in a friend's barn in Newtown for 7-8 years & still have a number of friends in town. Spoke with a few of them tonight...fortunatly their youngest kids are now in 5th + 6th grade. The school targeted was k-4th.
Absolute sadness and disbelief from up north . Must have been a very disturbed young man to have been in the frame of mind to even contemplate this act let alone carry it out .
Dont know what the answer is , but it ain't more guns .
Condolences to any and all affected by this senseless tragedy....
